Donovan discovers lost tapes, the second to be available is Sensual Donovan. A buried treasure release, this series will continue.
Donovan releases a new un-released set of songs rediscovered in the Archive .
It is amazing to find this complete album which I had forgotten I made. It was never released in 1970 when I recorded it with John Phillips ( Mamas & Papas ) in The Factory Recording Studio in Hollywood. The band was essentially The Jazz Crusaders , Joe Sample (keyboards), Wilton Felder (bass) and I think Stix Hooper (drums) but not the regular Crusaders guitarist Larry Carlton. For this session the guitar was David T.Walker.
This album was not finished when I found it in the archive, but all the basic tracks were there. Wilton Felder was to add his horns but didn’t, so I completed the album in The Works Studio Dublin with Rod Callan.
The horn players I used were Michael Buckley (who co-arranged the horns with me) and Ronan Dooney. The female vocal on Only You and Hotel Lonely was Susanne Bushnell.

I hope this will be under my tree!!!
Can I get a refund or better tracks? The tracks do not end properly. They begin to fade, then repeat the ending.

Send us your order #, seems your download is corrupted. I just check the files and are working properly.
Fantastic new stuff from Don. At last all the lost songs performed on the “new songs from an icon” album are present here (Amore – Open up your heart – Dignity of man).
Two lovers, Hotel lonely and only you (very good versions)
Astrella (nice medley of Lady of the stars and till I’ll see you again)
but why three of them are instrumental ? I would prefer 3 new songs…….
Anyway I’m so happy to hear new things from Don but still waiting the forthcoming DVD of the Royal Albert Hall concert (sunshine superman album) Where I was present.
My download is correct.
Thank you, Donovan ! Always happy to hear new songs from you. Even if I already knew some of them, this new interpretation make them new. And I am glad that you continue on your artist and human path, using new means to reach us. Happy new year to you and your family ! Friendly yours. Philippe (from South of France)
There is so much great Donovan music still unreleased, hundreds of songs. E.g Christo, there are no roads, peace has her victories, john Reilly, the awakening year, dear heart, moon over Claire, I could go on. I would pay good money for these. Can we expect to see them released any time soon?
The songs you mentioned are great – I’ve got them all on bootlegs. John Reilly is incredible. Official releases soon, please!
Hi Zapa, yes I have them all too but it would be nice to have them in best sound quality, nicely packaged together with songs from each of their different periods and maybe some information about them too. It’s strange and unfortunate that so many great tracks never got released while many dodgy ones did!
