DONOVAN IS INDUCTED INTO THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME. “A LIGHT IS SHINNING ON ALL MY WORK. WHAT MORE CAN I ASK FOR?”
In a surprise announcement this day of the 5th of February 2014, 5 days before the official announcement, the Great American DJ Howard Stern, during his interview with Donovan, told the world on Sirius Satellite Radio that Donovan has been inducted into The Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Donovan and Howard were chatting away about Donovans’ songs and asking him to play examples on his acoustic guitar when Howard told Donovan that he had been inducted. And this is 5 days before the official announcement on February 10th. It was at that point that Donovan said “A light is shinning on all my work. What more can I ask for?”
Donovan was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
As a surprise to Howard Donovan then gave Howard a birthday present (Howard had celebrated his 60th birthday a few days before).
The gift is the very first Numero Uno made of the DONOVAN GIBSON GUITAR, a J45, the model on which Donovan had written and recorded all his songs from 1965 to 1969, when his original J45 was stolen.
Donovan told Howard, that when Gibson Guitars heard of the stolen J45, Gibson told Donovan “We will make you a new one”. And now the world can have one too. Howard was very pleased with his gift from Donovan. For more info click here.
And here is a photo of Donovan with his early J45.
