“The Northeast’s Largest Free (Admission) Jazz Festival” turns 30 this June, with another eclectic Syracuse style line up that features a combination of seasoned veterans, household names and some of jazz’s most intriguing rising stars and hottest newcomers.

This year’s festival, the 30th under the helm of festival founder Frank Malfitano, has a decidedly international flavor this time around, with artists from France (Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Jazz Competition-winner Cyrille Aimée), Brazil (Diego Figueiredo) Austria (Harri Stojka’s Hot Club of Vienna), Scotland (the Iconic
Folk-Jazz Legend Donovan).

The USA will also be well represented by smooth jazz legend Kenny G, Billy Vera and the Beaters’ frontman Billy Vera and his 18-piece All-Star Syracuse Big Band, original Allman Brother’s percussionist Jaimoe and his Jasssz Band, Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Gregory Porter, and five-time Austin Music Awards and SXSW Music Awards winners, Mingo Fishtrap.

According to Jazz Fest founder Frank Malfitano, the popular 2-day, free-admission outdoor music festival will take place on Friday, June 22nd and Saturday, June 23rd, at Jamesville Beach Park, with performances taking place on the festival’s Louis H. Everding Main Stage, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. nightly.

M&T Jazz Fest 30’s Co-Headliners are 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and folk-jazz-world music pioneer Donovan (Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow, Hurdy Gurdy Man, Season Of the Witch, Atlantis, Jennifer, Juniper, Catch The Wind), and returning smooth jazz legend and the top-selling jazz artist of all time, Kenny G, who last performed at the Fest in 2009.

M&T Jazz Fest 30 kicks off on Friday night, June 22nd, with Gypsy Jazz Guitarist Harri Stojka & The Hot Club of Vienna’s Tribute To Gypsy Swing (Part 1). Friday’s lineup also includes a duo featuring Parisian Gypsy vocalist Cyrille Aimée, whom Malfitano describes as a cross between Bobby McFerrin, Diana Krall and Norah Jones, accompanied by Brazilian guitarist Diego Figuereido, followed by Austin’s premier soul-jazz-funk outfit,

Mingo Fishtrap, whom Malfitano likened to the James Brown Big Band meeting Tower of Power.Friday continues with Grammy-Nominated jazz-pop-R&B vocalist Gregory Porter, whom critics have described as “the next great jazz vocalist” and as “a cross between Lou Rawls and Bill Withers,” followed by Smooth Jazz Superstar Kenny G who closes out Friday’s festival lineup starting at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, June 23rd, Harri Stojka & The Hot Club of Vienna returns with Part 2 of its Tribute To Gypsy Swing, leading things off at 3:30 pm. Next up, at 5:00 pm, will be Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and original Allman Brothers percussionist Jaimoe and his Jasssz Band, who will be followed by “At This Moment” vocalist Billy Vera and his Big Band – a band that will include 14 prominent Central New York horn players, led by saxophonist Joe Carello.

At 8:00 pm, the legendary folk-jazz-psychedelia-world music pioneer and troubadour Donovan (Leitch) the Glasgow-born singer-songwriter and contemporary of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Bob Dylan, makes a rare 2012 North American appearance, following his recent 2012 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
