Donovan to play Belfast

It’s a great honour to have legendary songwriter Donovan perform and deliver a song writing workshop at the BelNash. His career began in 1965 when he recorded his first single ‘Catch the Wind’ , released on Hickory Records in Nashville and in 2013 he returned there to record his latest album ’Shadows of Blue.’ He has written over 500 songs including the classic Colours, Mellow Yellow, Jennifer Juniper and Hurdy Gurdy Man.

Over the years, Donovan has had 13 Top 40 hits and over 300 of his songs have been covered in many diverse genres. He is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and taught Mother Maybelle’s guitar picking to The Beatles John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. ‘Donovan is all over the White Album,’ said George Harrison.

Donovan has just been unanimously nominated for The Songwriters Hall of fame this October of 2013.Hearing Donovan live at the Belnash is going to be one of the most special nights of the last ten years.
